I am a registered psychotherapist, coach, trainer and facilitator.
I specialise in working with busy professionals, supporting them through emotional issues and other challenges both at home and work, enabling them to enjoy a rich, rewarding life and achieve their full potential.
As well as one to one sessions, I facilitate practical, experiential and interactive group workshops within organisations, covering a range of topics from managing stress through to leadership. And with a firm belief in the need for healing to be fully embodied, I also facilitate mindful movement practices including somatic awareness and ecstatic dance, at various venues in east London.
Prior to retraining, I spent over 25 years in senior leadership roles in London-based communications agencies, much of this time as a single parent. I know only too well the pressures of a fast-paced environment, where at times it can be hard to prioritize our wellbeing, or even to notice what’s happening until problems have really taken hold.
Over the years I learned to apply the Human Givens approach of identifying my emotional needs and drawing on a range of resources within and around me to get them met. This approach helped me to overcome serious physical and emotional health issues, as well as a host of challenges in my career and personal life. I also learned that anchoring my mind each morning with a meditation practice helped me to think more clearly, intuitively and positively throughout the rest of the day. Adding mindful breathwork and movement practices enabled a more embodied sense of inner stability and a more balanced and compassionate perspective towards myself and others.
In time I noticed myself becoming a haven of calm and emotional support for family, friends and colleagues. Feeling it to be a natural direction for my life to be taking, I decided to retrain to offer this support professionally, and, as it had been such a help in my own life, I chose to train in the Human Givens approach. I became a registered therapist in 2018 and have since facilitated numerous positive shifts in emotional wellbeing, often over the course of just a handful of sessions.
Meanwhile I have continued to expand my knowledge, training in Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal theory, Gabor Mate’s compassionate enquiry, Self-compassion and Positive Intelligence, as well as a range of somatic awareness and movement practices. These offer different perspectives for me to apply and I use my experience and intuition to draw on them as appropriate.
